Paul
Davis, a native Texan, began
his insurance career in 1966 after graduating from North Texas State University.
In the early stages of Paul's career, he was a claim
representative for Crum & Forester Insurance Company. In 1969, he purchased
a small
local recording agency and after several successful years as an independent
agent, Paul
organized Texas Specialty Underwriters, Inc. TSU became operational in 1971
and
specialized in long haul trucking.
As Texas Specialty Underwriters continued
to develop
into a successful operation and gained a strong financial position, Paul
diversified. This
led to a larger producing agency base and the need for more markets. In 1974,
Paul was
approved by the London Tribunal as a London Correspondent for Hogg Insurance
Brokers Ltd.
(now RFIB Group, Ltd).
The rapid growth of Texas Specialty Underwriters
created the need for Paul to be in many places in short periods of time. As a licensed
pilot, Paul utilized the corporate aircraft to assist in meeting these demands. Paul also
uses the aircraft to assist producing agents with on-site risk evaluations and field
inspections.
As owner and President of the corporation, Paul
maintains an active role in financial management, underwriting and claims. Paul is active
in industry trade associations and serves on numerous committees. He has served other
Managing General Agencies as a management consultant. Paul has completed a term on the
Board of Directors for the Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas and has served as
President for the American Association of Managing General Agents.Paul is active in his community and has served as President of the
Chamber of Commerce and other local organizations.
In 1992, Paul's son Brent joined TSU after
graduating from
TCU. He served as marketing director from 1992-1995 and became Vice
President of
Operations in 1996. He was instrumental in developing several programs
for Garage,
Commercial Automobile, and Personal Lines. Brent has served as Vice
Chairman for the
AAMGA Under Forty Organization and Chairman of the Board of
Directors of the
Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas. Brent and his wife Libits have
a son, WIll, and are actively
involved at LakePointe Baptist Church in Rockwall.
